Robert W Howard

Robert W. Howard, 82, of W. Lafayette, IN, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008, at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Melbourne, FL. He was born on September 10th, 1925, in McKendree Township, IL, the son of Henry and Iva (Stevens) Howard. He was united in marriage to Lenora A. (Kitchen) Howard on March 21st, 1959, in Valparaiso. She survives. Other survivors include: his children, Paul (Mereidy) Howard of West Lafayette, IN, Mark (Adrienne) Howard of Atlanta, GA, Robert (Sandra) Kitchen of Wichita, KS, and Jennifer Kitchen of Redwood City, CA; his thirteen grandchildren; his seven great grandchildren; and his brother, Don (Martha) Howard of Westville. Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Gene; one infant brother, Paul; and one sister, Madeline. Robert was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown, Georgetown Lions Club, Kiwanis of Martinsville, IN, and the Rotary Club of Mitchell, IN. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and life member of Further Light Lodge II 1130 of Danville. He received his Bachelor of Agriculture Education from the University of Illinois in 1949. Robert had taught Vocational Agriculture for six years in Westville, Longview, & Scottland Community Schools. He was worked for 29 years for the Soil Conservation Service. In his spare time, he liked woodworking and gardening. A celebration of Roberts life will be held at 10:30am, Monday, June 16th, 2008, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL. Steve Rutter will officiate. Visitation will be held 2-5pm, Sunday, June 15th, 2008, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, IL. Memorial donations may be given in Roberts name to the Georgetown Lions Club.
