Robert W. Brandt, 81, of Danville, passed away at 1:50pm Saturday July 8, 2017. Robert was born in Danville on December 22, 1935. He was the son of Walter and Violet Brandt. On March 21, 1964 Robert married the love of his life Mary Lou Morris and they spent the next 44 years together before her passing in December 2008. Robert is survived by his daughter, Rose (Jim) Jackson; two sons, Duane Brandt, Jerry (Karen) Patterson; six grandchildren, Holly, John, Lauren, Jill, Catie, Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dessie, Henry and girlfriend Kitty Lee. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother. Robert was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Illinois State Normal University. Robert worked at a parts man for Hyster from 1968 until 1995 when he retired. Robert was in the Army Medical Core from 1958 until 1961 and during this time was stationed at Fort Sam in Houston Texas. In his spare time, he could be found fishing, bowling, or watching his favorite show, the Price is Right. The most important thing in Robert's life was family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by everyone he met. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am Friday July 14, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 13, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
