Robert Roy Allen

Robert Allen, 76, of Dade City, FL, formerly of Danville passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2015. He was born on May 30, 1939 in Buffalo, IL, the son of Roy and Neva (Woodrum) Allen. He married the love of his life, Judy Albery in 1959 and she still survives. Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy, son, Rob (Heidi) Allen of Danville, daughter, Debi (Jack) Johnson of Zephyrhills, FL and grandchildren; Tyler, Sydney, Charles, Raegan, Matthew, Sam, Sarah and Kip. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Darrell Allen. Robert graduated from Danville High School in 1957 and married Judy in 1959 before enlisting in the Army Reserves. Upon his return he attended and graduated from Danville Area Community College. Robert was a second shift supervisor for ESCO of Danville for 20 years. He then moved to Butler Chemical Company in Chicago where he worked until retiring in 2008. Robert's passion was making wooden bowls in his workshop. He was a member of the Tri-County Woodturners Association in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards, grilling out and having friends and family over. "Chief" Robert and Judy's German Shepard was like a child and will surely miss Robert very much. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials can be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society or a Hospice of the donor's choice.
