Robert "Robby" John Koch, Jr.

Robert “Robby” John Koch Jr., 62, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on May 19, 2025.

Robby was born in Danville, Illinois, on October 9, 1962, to Robert and Mary Lou Koch. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Danville High School. He later proudly served in the U.S. Army and went on to work in several roles throughout his life, most notably as a Commercial Motor Vehicle driver and a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Robby was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels, and a devoted fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Fighting Illini.

For the past 19 years, Robby was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, not only embracing his own sobriety but mentoring and sponsoring many others along their journeys. His commitment to recovery and service was a reflection of the transformation he experienced in his own life.

Robby found his spiritual home at Vermilion Valley Vineyard Church. To him, it was more than a place of worship—it was a family. The support, love, and encouragement he found there helped shape his later years into a life marked by peace, purpose, and faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Lou (Gordon) Koch. He is survived by his sisters Jeanne (Tom) Fowler and Terri (Gibson) Murray, his brother Mark (Kate) Koch, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Vermilion Valley Vineyard Church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service and then a graveside service at Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Vermilion Valley Vineyard Church, Trinity Lutheran Church or to local Danville area Alcoholics Anonymous chapters.

Robby’s legacy is one of redemption, faith, and love. He taught us that it’s never too late to change, that healing is possible, and that in community, we can all find our way home.
