Robert R. Williams, 91, of Georgetown, IL, was born May 15, 1926 to George and Minnie Ann (Graham) Williams in the town of Columbia, Mississippi. He was the middle son of a large family having four brothers: Jack, John, Jessie, Lee; and three sisters: Della, Laura, and Lexie. All preceded him in death. He passed away October 12, 2017, at 12:30am at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. He leaves behind his family of three daughters: Brenda (Gene) Pierce, Debra (Ray) Gill, Terry (Lester) Shores and his life companion of 18 years, Ione Richards. He also had a special niece and nephew, Carla (Rick) Messer of Mississippi, who he shared many good times with and created wonderful memories. He had six grandchildren: Tammy (Douglas) Howard, James (Sabrina) Thomas, Chad (Michelle) Gilliland, Jason (Tabetha) Ellis, Robert Clay (Kristin) Ellis and Matt Ellis, all will miss grandpa greatly. He enjoyed the company of 15 great grandchildren: Ryan (Brooklyn) Howard, Dylan Howard, Lynze (David) Kinderman, Shelby Thomas, Nate Thomas, Noah Thomas, Sean Gilliland, Seth Gilliland, Caden Ellis, Mason Ellis, Morgan Ellis, Chase Ellis, Kora Ellis, Suzanna Ellis, and Colton Ellis. He also had two great-great grandchildren, Ryan and Desmon Kinderman of Indiana, who represented the youngest of his five generations of family. Robert (Bob) to all who knew him was a 20-year US Army/Air Force Veteran, having joined the army in 1946 and was the recipient of many honorary medals including: the Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army, Air Force Longevity Award times 3, Honorable Service Award, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was quite proud of his service record and shared a few of his experiences but only when asked. Bob was also an over the road truck driver in his second career and drove many years for PIE/Ryder. He loved traveling across the country. He was also quite proud of his Southern Heritage but became and adopted Georgetown, IL, resident after his marriage to Ethel McCoy in August of 1948 who was his wife of 30 years and close friend for life. Bob had many friends that he shared his love of fishing and hunting. All who along with his family say, "Good Bye" and we will miss you forever. Visitation will be held 10am to 12pm, Friday, October 20, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Funeral Service to follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown, IL. If you wish, memorial donations may be given in his name to the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 Honor Guard.
