Mahomet- Robert William Bob Prather, 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, of Mahomet, formerly of Rossville died on Sunday, (January 2, 2011) at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Champaign. Bob was born October 4, 1937 to William & Beryl Bishop Prather in Danville, IL. He attended Rossville Grade School, Rossville High School and the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity. He married Ann Sears of Danville in 1957. Bob and Ann celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in August 2010. They lived in Rossville until 2008 when they moved to Mahomet to be close to their children. Bob was a farmer and owned and operated Heaton Grain Co. east of Rossville for 45 years. He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Rossville and the Mahomet Christian Church. As a member of the Gideons, he enjoyed many opportunities to place Bibles in the community and was also a member of the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois. He loved spending time with his family coaching Little League, being a 4-H leader, playing basketball and serving on the Vermilion County Fair Board. His love of life was teaching Sunday School, camping, traveling and the riding the golf cart with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his loving wife Ann Prather; daughter Pam (Jeff) Burgoyne of Mahomet; sons Bruce (Debbie) Prather of Urbana, Daren (Sandy) Prather of Mahomet, Kevin (Melanie) Prather of Paducah, KY; 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Emily Burgoyne; Jacob, Lucas, Matthew and Tucker Prather; several cousins and special friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nell Rose Prather of Houston, TX. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville, IL. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Gideons or the charity of the donors choice.
