Robert Bob Pickering, 75, of Danville passed away on January 23, 2010 at his daughters home with his family and friends by his side. Robert Bob Pickering was born February 1, 1934 in Danville son of Frank and Anna Vi Amos Pickering. He is survived by seven children: Tammy Pickering of Danville, Barb (Terry) Howell of Westville, Bobby Pickering of Westville, Connie Lacy of Crawfordsville, IN, Andrew (Debbie) Lacy of Mooresville, IN, John Lacy of Lafayette, IN, and Amy (Chad) Johnson of Crawfordsville, IN; three sisters: Barbara (Jack) Stewart, Patricia (Rolland Arch) Goin, and Margaret (George Bud) Scarlett all of Danville; three brothers: Charles (Gladys) Pickering of Westville, John Jack (Sherry) Pickering, and Michael (Sue) Pickering both of Danville; eight grandchildren: Dennis, Heidi, Courtney, Ashley, Bobby Lee, Corey, Ally, and Van; great-grandson: Joshua. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen (Shelby) Green, son-in-law Dennis Ritter, and longtime love of his life Sally Lacy after 30 years together. Bob started his career at Tent & Awning in Danville and Allith Prouty; he worked for the City of Danville as an engineer for 30 years until retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Danville, IL and Crawfordsville, IN Moose Lodges and enjoyed NASCAR, horse racing, trips to the riverboats, and coffee with his brothers & buddies at Two Brother restaurant in Westville, but, most of all he loved spending time with his family especially traveling with his children and brothers & sisters. A Celebration of Roberts Life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastors Don & Chris Prouty officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Mausoleum in Danville. Memorials may be made in Roberts name to the American Cancer Society.
