Robert Mervyn Demarse

Robert Mervyn DeMarse, 64, of Danville passed away at 1:35 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2005 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Robert was born on February 11, 1941 in Watseka, Illinois, the son of Fred and Opal (Price) DeMarse. He married Ronda Smith on February 18, 1977 in Westland, Michigan. She survives. He is also survived by his mother- Opal DeMarse of Modesto, California; one son- Ron (Tracy) DeMarse of Valdosta, Georgia; one daughter- Robecca (Andy) Anderson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren- Elizabeth and Veronique DeMarse of Valdosta, Georgia and Abrielle Anderson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one brother- Paul (Kuulei) DeMarse of Texas; six sisters- Nancy Quesinberry of Texas, Sonja Le Clair, Patricia (Larry) Lee, , Norma Robinson, Carolyn DeMarse, and Beverly (Ron) Marlow all of California; three sisters-in-law- Sue (Gordon) Smock of Danville, Kenna Jean (Larry) Smock of Rossville, and Lynne (John) Fetters of Rossville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father- Fred DeMarse on November 23, 1984. Robert graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, California in 1959. After high school he joined the United States Marines and served from 1959-1962. After the service he attended Contra Costa Community College in California and obtained his Associates Degree. Robert enjoyed history, playing cards, and fishing. He also coached soccer and softball. He loved being around his family and his friends. A celebration of the life of Robert Mervyn DeMarse will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or to the Old Union Church.
