Robert Bob Philip Maxey, 84, died at 12:44 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2006 at his residence in Danville, Illinois. Bob was born September 18, 1922 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Harris Edgar and Adele Helen Hahn Maxey. Bob was a graduate of St. Regis Catholic Grade School, East St. Louis High School and Summers College of Commerce, all in East St. Louis. He owned McFarland Furniture Store in Southern Illinois and after moving to Danville, he worked for Rhodes Burford Furniture Company until his retirement in 1985. Bob married Elouise McFarland in East St. Louis in 1942. She preceded him in death. In 1972, he married Mary Margaret Dunn of Oakwood. She also preceded him in death. He married Nadine LeCount in 2003. Bob is survived by his wife Nadine; his daughter Phyllis (Paul) Martin; four grandchildren, Lisa Howard, John Anderson, Michelle (Charles) Cheuvront, and Paul Martin; four step sons, one step daughter, eleven step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and fifteen step great grandchildren; one sister, Helen four nieces and two nephews. He was also preceded by his parents, two sisters, four brothers-in-law, one step son and one niece. Bob belonged to the St Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and YMCA. He loved to swim and was an avid Cardinal fan as well as an ardent supporter of Schlarman High School athletics. Bob was known for his devotion to his family and his wonderful sense of humor. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, December 5, 2006 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with a wake service at 7:00pm. Burial Sunset Memorial Park.
