Robert E. Mathis

Robert E. Mathis, 91, of Danville, IL passed away at 11:25 AM on June 11, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Danville, IL.

Robert was born on January 27, 1934 in St Louis, MO the son of Elmer Lee and Veronica (Landrum) Mathis. He married Nedra A. Bryson on June 30, 1956 in St Louis, MO and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2016.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Regina) Mathis of McMinnville, TN and Carol (William) Dillbeck of Cambridge, IL, grandchildren, William C. (Katie) Dillbeck of Cambridge, IL and Kristie Mathis of Springfield, IL, great-grandchildren, Madilyn M. Dillbeck and Claire L. Dillbeck and his special friend, Larry Keilholz.

Robert was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, IL and served his country in the United States Army from February 28, 1952 – January 28, 1955. He worked for the Wabash Railroad as a telegrapher for 13 years before retiring from TeePak after 25 years of service. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Park. Pastor Noe Menez will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard.
