Robert M. Richey

Oakwood - Robert M. Richey of Oakwood passed away on November 16, 2016 at Heartland Healthcare. He was born October 13, 1930 to Elbert T. and Mattie (Trudeau) Richey in Lafayette, IN. He married Patricia A. Garing in Fowler, IN on February 19, 1955, she preceded him in death in 2007. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Tom Richey and his half-brothers, Senour and George Richey. He is survived by his sons; Lee E. Richey of Oakwood, IL, Jon R. Richey of Bedford, IN; daughters, Kim (Bill) Wells of Fithian, IL, Sue (Tony) Witherspoon of Minden, NV, Joy (Travis) Fox of Monticello, IL; sister, Judie (Don) Riefel of Fowler, IN; grandchildren; Justin (Amanda), Jana (Beau), Jena (Ryan), Travis, Amanda (Cam), Lee Robert, Kilian, Laura, Zack, Lorene, Mike, Josh, Danica, Addy, Tristan, Trevor and Treyden; great-grandchildren; Aubrey, Brevin, Gaven, Laney, Jacob, Connor, Claire, Ayla. Robert served our country in the US Army from 1949-1952 earning the rank of Sergeant First Class and had the honor of flying on the Honor Flight out of Indiana. He was a member of the Fowler American Legion. Robert worked as a printer for University Press and later worked as an electrician assistant at the University of Illinois. Robert took pleasure in his retirement in golfing and estimated he had walked the equivalent of two times around the world on a golf course. He also enjoyed fishing, archery and recently became a member of the Oakwood Pollywogs Association. He spent joyful time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. A celebration of life memorial service for Robert will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00PM at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 East South Main St. Oakwood, IL 61858 with Fr.
