Robert "Bob" Cook, 92, of Danville, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. He was born in Chicago, IL, the son of Russell and Marguerite Cook. Beloved husband of the late Georgia Cook for 66 wonderful years.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Janet (Joe) Petrick, Joyce (Eric) Nelson; sons, Gary (Meryl) Cook, Brian (Kathy) Cook; grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) Cook, Jeff (Allison) Petrick, Mike (fianc Elizabeth) Petrick, Daniel (fianc Meagan) Nelson, Kelly Nelson, Taylor (Angela) Cook, Allison Cook, Jonathan Cook; great-grandchildren, Collin Cook and Mary Cook.
Bob had fond memories of growing up on the south side of Chicago where he and several grade school friends organized a social and athletic club called the Boneheads. They played 16-inch softball, baseball and football against other groups in Chicago. The founding members remained lifelong friends, with Bob being one of the last surviving members.
After retiring as Customer Service Account Manager in 1990 after 33 years with Teepak, he and Georgia enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. The journey was as much of an adventure as the destination because Bob enjoyed driving the back roads of America while visiting all 50 states. He and Georgia were active in the Danville Frontier Twirlers Square Dance Club and enjoyed playing cards with friends. Bob was an avid golfer for many years. One of his proudest moments as a golfer was hitting a hole in one.
For health and safety reasons, a memorial service will be held at a future date.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in Bobs memory may do so to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the Alzheimers Association.
