Robert L. Marsh Jr., 91, passed away at 5:57am on Sunday November 4, 2018. He was born on June 13, 1927 in Danville, IL, the son of Robert and Katherine Marsh Sr. On August 21, 1949 Bob married the love of his life Edith M. Jones and the spent the next 37 years together before her passing. Bob is survived by his daughter, Chrystal F. Graham of Seymour, TN, son, Robert L. (Mike) Marsh III of Knoxville, TN, brother Thomas L. Marsh of Danville; sisters, Martha (Joan) Stines of Catlin, Marian Dickerson of Barstow, CA; grandchildren Jared Marsh of Oakhurst, CA and Patricia L. Wilbanks of Spokane, WA. As well as many loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Edie; brothers, James (Jim) Yow, William (Bill) Yow; aunts Florence (Polly) Weibaut, Zelma King, Edith Ham, great-grandmother Delta Isaac Crow and son-in-law, Donald (Don) E. Wilbanks. Bob graduated from Westville High School in 1945 before attending Southern California College where he received a bachelor's degree in social science. Later he obtained a Master of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University where he was also in the process of receiving his Phd. Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was a part of the maiden voyage of the USS Saidor. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of the VFW. Bob was ordained with the Assembly of God Church as well as a chaplain for Carle Foundation Hospice. He worked with Harsh Investment Corporation and later taught 4th in Westville for 9 years before moving to Crystal Lake, IL, where he was a private school administrator. He was also a school administrator in Barstow, CA and Chalmette, LA and one of the first at Judah Christian School in Champaign. He also taught at Votec opening year. Bob enjoyed gardening, was an excellent carpenter and his one goal in life was to positively affect at least one person through God's Grace or the help of God's love. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Rev. Ryan Harris. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am prior to the service at the funeral home.
