Robert L. Houston

Ridge Farm- Robert L. Houston, 66, of Ridge Farm passed away at 9 AM on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Manor Care in Kankakee, IL. He was born on July 12, 1947 in Chicago, the son of Edward and Norma (Garroutte) Houston. He is survived by two sisters, Sue (Tom) Wood of Chicago and Stephanie Houston of Danville; brother-in-law John Canner; was loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all who knew him as Uncle Bobby; and a special friend, Elsa Littman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Russell Houston, his uncle “Sam” Dale Houston, a sister, Belinda Canner, a brother, Edward Houston, and many many special pets. Robert will always be remembered by his family as an animal lover, having taken in many animals over the years. He especially loved his cats, Mr. Kee and Cubby. A service to celebrate the life of Robert Houston will be held at 12 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Kenneth Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Atherton Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 9 AM-12PM prior to the service.
