Danville Robert L. "Bob" Ware, 77, of Danville passed away at 3:26 PM on March 23, 2021 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Danville, IL.
Bob was born on October 14, 1943 the son of Robert and June (Cullum) Ware in Danville, IL. Survivors include his daughter Courtney (Mike) Moore of Charlottesville, VA, two sons, David (Dawn) Landers of Okeechobee, FL and Jeffrey Landers of Atlanta, GA as well as two granddaughters, Mallory and Delia Moore of Charlottesville, VA.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
A 1961 graduate of Danville High School, Bob received his bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University. He briefly taught in Danville public schools and then worked at Newmans clothing store in downtown Danville until its closing. He went on to work for Carmack Car Capitol in the Sales Department and later returned to work there until his retirement in 2007. Bob also owned and operated Bobs Big Barrel in Danville for 12 years. It was during this time that many of his most cherished and lasting friendships were formed with a cast of lovable characters seated at the end of the bar. Throughout the years, whether selling a car or serving a beer, Bobs soothing voice, clever sense of humor and sincere heart made him a treasured employee, boss and friend.
Bob loved sports, especially baseball, and was known for his incredible ability to recall facts and stories about players and teams past and present. He cheered for Illini Basketball, the Chicago Bears and above all else his beloved Chicago Cubs, who finally rewarded his lifelong loyalty with a World Series victory in 2016. For many years the highlight of his week was a Sunday Euchre game with friends, a crew that laughed together and looked out for each other for the past four decades.
Per Bobs wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials in Bobs memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
