Robert James Bob Fridmanski, 80, of Westville, passed away at 11:34pm, Sunday, March 29, 2009, at his home. He was born on December 13, 1928, in Belgium, IL, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Savoldi) Fridmanski. He was united in marriage to Catherine Myers on May 13, 1950, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. She will miss him dearly. Other survivors include: his four sons, Robert Michael (Anita) Fridmanski of Danville, Timothy (Rhonda) Fridmanski of Branden, MS, Thomas (Lisa) Fridmanski of Westville, & Raymond Fridmanski of Westville; his grandchildren, Eric, Amy Kyle, Kaitlyn, Timothy, Ethan & Betsy Fridmanski; and his sister, Marie Knight of Normal, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Westville. He retired from General Motors in 1985 where he had worked as a machinery repairman with 34 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corp first joining when he was 17 years old and later was called back during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and was also a member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was always willing to help his neighbors. Most of all, he cherished and loved spending his time with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, April 2, 2009, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville. Father Timothy Sauppe will officiate. Visitation will be held 4p-8p, Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with a rosary to be held at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest in St. Peter & Pauls Cemetery.
