Robert J. David, 79, of Danville, passed away at 9:23pm, Sunday, May 7, 2016, at his home after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. He was born on June 7, 1936, in Chicago, IL, the son of Laborio and Cecelia {Zielinski} David. He was united in marriage to Judith Ann Boose Brewer David on February 14, 1986 in Danville. She will miss him dearly. He is also survived by: his children, Douglas (Leigh) Davidi of Marietta, GA, Nancy (James) Crump of LaGrange, GA, Timothy Brewer of Danville, & Craig (Denise Finley) Brewer of Danville; his grandchildren, Lesli (Jordan) Minor, Zachary Davidi, Alexandrea Crump, Todd (Jessica) Brewer, Jennifer (Ronald Christopher) Brewer, Shannon Brewer, & Samantha Brewer; step-grandchildren, Troy White, Heather Bland, Rachel, Patrick, and Phillip Crump; his great grandchildren, Kayla, Trenton, Wyatt, Abigail, Makayla, Kinsley, & Hadleigh; best friends, Don and Jackie Lewis; and wonderful neighbors, Marvin, Rick, Chris, Mike, Hank and Joe. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Laborio & Cecelia David; and his son, Paul David. Bob grew up in Chicago and graduated from Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, IN, in 1954. He really enjoyed going to class reunions and had just attended his 60th reunion last year. He worked at TeePak as a lab technician for 38 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church where he served as an usher and Eucharistic minister. He loved his Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a member of the Moose Lodge #1001 in Danville and past member of the Elks Lodge #754 in Danville. He was also his sons Boy Scout Troop Leader and baseball coach. Bob bowled for 48 years and his high game was 298. He was the Bowling League Secretary for many years and also was in the Bowling Hall of Fame and was on the American Bowling Congress Board. He enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Illini, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Bears. Bob loved to golf, play cards, fish and travel a lot. He went on many fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. Bob and Judy would go to Florida in the winter. He also loved visiting family away from home. Even though he didn't see them often, he loved seeing them and spending time with his family. They were the most important thing to him. He loved his grandchildren especially. Bob and his wife enjoyed dancing together and they danced up until his illness didn't allow him to do so. He also enjoyed music and playing the piano. He played to his wife every night. Bob was a very loving husband. He will be greatly missed by many. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Danville. Visitation will be held 4pm-6pm, Friday, May 13, 2016 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville. He will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
