Robert (Bob) T. Huxtable, 91, of Downs, Ill., formerly of Hoopeston, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his daughter's home in South Carolina with his family at his side. He was born on January 2, 1926, on his family's farm in rural Hoopeston, IL, the son of Reuben and Grace (Mavity) Huxtable. On Dec. 23, 1951, Bob married Barbara A. Ferguson in Catlin, IL who preceded him in death. Survivors include his two daughters, Kathy (Tom) Black of Gaffney, SC, and Anne (Rick) Hephner of Aurora, IL. His five grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Manjarres of St. Paul, TX, Debbie Kassner of Titusville, FL, Kevin (Leah) Burns of Fletcher, NC, Matthew Hephner of Chicago, IL, and Kristen Hephner of Platteville, WI. Also, surviving Bob are his nine great-grandchildren, Jerry Kassner of Pensacola, FL, Alexis Kassner of Pensacola, FL, Jessica Manjarres of St Paul, TX, Michael Manjarres of St. Paul, TX, Brock Kassner of Titusville, FL, Hayden Burns of Fletcher, NC, Kiersten Kassner of Titusville, FL, Skylar Burns of Fletcher, NC, and Peyton Burns of Fletcher, NC. His one sister, Betty Albertson of Pt. Charlotte, FL also survives him. His parents, two brothers, one sister, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law preceded Bob in death. He graduated from Rossville High School and shortly thereafter entered the Army Air Corp during World War II where he trained to be an airplane and engine mechanic. After returning home from the war, he entered Cincinnati Bible College where he met his wife, Barbara, of 58 years. Bob farmed the family farm outside of Hoopeston, IL his entire life as well as preached at Walnut Corner Church of Christ for over 23 years and then preached at Henning Church of Christ for several more years. He raised his family to love the Lord, and always wanted them to put serving the Lord as a priority in their lives. A Celebration of the life of Bob Huxtable will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, April 14th, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, with his grandson, Kevin Burns, officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Bob's name to the American Heart Association.
