Robert Paul Harry, age 87, of Danville, passed away at 7:30 am on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his home. He was born May 18, 1922 in Danville the son of Adolph and Anna (Gaydos) Harry. He married Bonnie Ashby on October 16, 1950. She survives. Robert is also survived by his son: Charles (Nancy) Harry of Danville; his grandson: Robert Andrew Harry of Danville; two step grandchildren: Marissa (Chris) Yocius of Danville, Mike (Rebecca) Garfield of Kiln, Mississippi; six step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Adolph, Elmer, Ralph, Orville, Andrew and one sister: Emma Gannon. Robert served in the United States Army Artillery during World War II. He received five European Battle Stars including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was one of five brothers serving at the same time during the war. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #210 and a life member of the D.A.V. Robert was a meat cutter his entire working life and last owned and operated his own meat shop. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Robert was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Per his request there will be no visitation. There will be a Mass held at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville at 10 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Roberts name to either the St. Pauls Catholic Church or the charity of the donors choice. Email condolences can be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
