Robert Hardy

Robert Hardy, 91, of Covington, passed away at 2:14pm, Friday, June 25, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent, Williamsport, IN. He was born on November 18, 1929, in Covington the son of Theodore and Roxie {Grubb} Hardy. He was united in marriage to Nellie Maurine Royal on November 29, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2020. He will be dearly missed by his children, Judy (Kirby) Tedder, Stan (Brenda) Hardy, & Dan Hardy (Deena Martin); his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hardy; his ten grandchildren, Brian, Brittney, Andrea, Andy, Alise, Brooke, Crystal, Jeremy, Dalton, & Dailynn; his 14 great grandchildren; his sister, Martha (Edward) Ratcliff; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, James Hardy. Robert was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He was a farmer and enjoyed working the land. He served at First Church of Christ as a deacon and elder. Robert was a fan of all Covington sports teams and attended all his grandkids events. He was also known as a Cardinals fan to many. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the waitresses and his coffee drinking buddies at Benjamins. They were a large part of his life. A celebration of Roberts life will be held at 11:00am (EST), Thursday, July 1, 2021, at First Church of Christ, 615 5th Street, Covington, IN, 47932, with Joey Emerick officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm (EST), Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the First Church of Christ, Covington. Arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. A second visitation will be held one hour prior to his service on Thursday at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.
