Robert H. Saveley

CHAMPAIGN- Robert Harold Saveley, 68, of Champaign, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Robert was born on August 4, 1945 in Danville, the son of Ernest Saveley and Viola Neidrick Saveley. On July 5, 1969 he married the love of his life, Ellen Taylor in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are their two children, Kyle (Ileana) Saveley and Kimberly Saveley both of Champaign; three grandchildren, Raphael, Ashley, and Sebastian Saveley; and one brother, James Saveley of Danville. His parents preceded him in death. A proud Navy Veteran, Robert served during Vietnam, and later Naval Intelligence at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Following his service to our country, Robert sold insurance for Horace Mann. Most recently, he was enjoying his retirement. Robert was a member of the Rantoul Exchange Club, the Rantoul Lodge 1496 Loyal Order of Moose, and a Mentor for many in Champaign schools. He was a proud Christian man, and member of Rantoul Christian Church where he was head of Missions. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Robert loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren loved going to movies with him just as much as he enjoyed taking them. An avid sports and Illini fan, you could often find Robert at any Illini game as he was sure to always get his season tickets. Memorials may be made in Roberts honor to the Rantoul Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Homes, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 North Neil Street, Champaign. A joyful celebration of Roberts life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home. Cremation rights will be accorded, and burial of Roberts cremated remains will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
