Robert Michael Greer passed away on March 15, 2025, at OSF Hospital in Bloomington, Illinois.
He was born to William Conrad and Mary Tom (Hale) Greer on September 12, 1942, in Potomac, Illinois. Bob married the love of his life, Judy Calvert, on January 30, 1988, and with this union, he gained two children to love. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children Robin (Eric) Jogun and MaryMargaret (Brian) Ritzheimer of Chicago, Illinois, Amy (Brad) Closson of Austin, Texas, and Andrew (Jennifer) Albin of Mattoon, Illinois; grandchildren Brandon Brown, Zachary Albin, Kaylin Albin, Beau Winter, Jacob Albin, Caleb Ritzheimer, Ethan Brown, Grant Albin, Isabelle Brown, and Samantha Brown; great-grandchildren Genevieve Albin, Josephine Albin, and Flora Albin; and two sisters, Imagene (Larry) Wright and Carolyn (John) Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother-in-law Larry Wright.
Bob was a graduate of Diamond Grade School and Oakwood Township High School. He sold automotive parts for many years, starting his career at Sieg Automotive and finishing at Napa Auto Parts. A lifelong lover of cars, he enjoyed racing stock cars with his father, as well as working on them.
Bob loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He took particular enjoyment in organizing yearly family trips to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana, a tradition cherished by his children and grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Watching Fighting Illini sports and NASCAR races were his favorite ways to spend a weekend.
A memorial service in honor of Bob will take place at Elwood Friends Church in Georgetown, Illinois, on Monday, March 24th. The memorial visitation will be from 10:00 AM to noon, and the memorial service will begin at noon. A luncheon will follow at the Georgetown Fair Grounds Banquet Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Georgetown Public Library or Elwood Friends Church.
