Robert Gene Shrout

Robert Gene Shrout, 85, of Georgetown, passed from this life at 6:38pm, Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on March 31, 1932, the son of Thurman A. and Cecil M. {Sherer} Shrout, in Georgetown, IL. He was united in marriage to Lulabelle Mosier on January 7, 1952, at his parent's home in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. He is also survived by: his sons, Kimberly Clark Shrout of Georgetown & Darrin Duane Shrout of Danville; his granddaughter, Tiffany Starr Shrout; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one grandson, Justin Robert Shrout; five brothers, Orville, Virgil, Edward, Raymond, & Harley; and his sisters, Wilma, Thelma, Mary, Vivian, Ruth, Lillian, & Blanche. Robert was the last of 13 children. He met his wife, Lulabelle, at the Georgetown Skating Rink in 1951 and during their marriage they adopted two sons. He served his Country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He served as commander of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 during 1974-1975 after having served as adjutant, Sergeant at Arms, Junior Vice Commander, and Senior Vice Commander in previous years. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Robert enjoyed his family and was a true friend to his children. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
