Robert Wayne Gatineau, 82 of Coconut Creek, FL, formerly of Catlin, died on October 13, 2006 at 7:50 AM EST. at Havencrest Assistant Living in Coconut Creek, FL. Robert was born on January 19, 1924 in Danville the son of Charles W. and Anna Pearl (Freeman) Gastineau. He was married to his wife, Marjorie Ann Cornwell, for nearly 55 years until her death on June 20, 1997. Robert is survived by two sons: Daniel (Beth) Gastineau of Coconut Creek, FL, Robert Allen (Leona) Gastineau of Rossville, IL; four grandchildren: Debra Kay Bugle of Danville, Rebecca Fay Gastineau of Coconut Creek, FL, Amy Nicole Gastineau of Coconut Creek, FL, Megan Leah Gastineau of Coconut Creek, FL; and one great grandchild: Ryan Owen of Covington, IN. Robert worked as a maintenance supervisor for the University of South Florida in Sarasota, FL. Prior to moving to Florida in 1977 he was a control room operator for Illinois Power Company in Oakwood. He was employed there for 16 years. While living in Illinois Robert and his wife were members of the Catlin Church of Christ. He loved to fly and obtained his pilot licenses in the early 1950s. Robert was an avid home handyman and enjoyed working on and around his home. He didnt like to talk much of it, but he was very proud of his military service during WWII. Robert served in the Army in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge until the end of the war.
