Robert "Garry" Cauley

Robert "Garry" Cauley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 7, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and service. Born on August 21, 1948, in Preston, Georgia, Garry dedicated a significant portion of his life to both his family and his community.

Garry proudly served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, becoming a Vietnam veteran and a Desert Storm veteran. His military journey brought him to Rantoul, Illinois, in October 1980, where he earned numerous awards throughout his distinguished service. Garry supported his community through various roles, including serving as an observer for the Parker, Florida police department from 1976 to 1978, managing the Fairchild Air Force Base roller rink, and running the Hi-Low Sportsmans Club. He further contributed to the workforce at Eagle Wings Industry from 1991 to 1998 before joining Carle SPD, where he worked until 2015.

Garry's passions extended beyond his career. He warmly embraced hobbies that filled his days with purpose and joy—bowling, hunting, fishing, woodworking, ceramics, and traveling and motorcycles brought him joy. Of all his pursuits, however, it was spending time with his family and friends that truly defined Garry. He was a man remembered for his infectious sense of humor and his knack for playing pranks that never failed to uplift those around him.

On May 22, 1971, Garry married his love Isabelle at Homestead Air Force Base in Miami, Florida. Together, they built a life rich in love and memories, raising a family that became the core of their happiness. Garry is survived by his dear wife, Isabelle Cauley; his sister, Theresa (Tim) Ferry; his daughter, Rebecca (Jim) Renfrow; and an adoring circle of grandchildren—Chelsea (Craig) Sumner, Garrett (Gia) Renfrow, Shyanne (Hunter) Powell, Jessie (fiancé Austin Daffron) Renfrow, Dreena (fiancé Tristan Flahaut) Renfrow—who will cherish his memory along with his great-grandchildren, Rayden, Taygean, Willow, Patti-Belle, Isabelle, and Luca.

Garry was preceded in death by his father, Willard Cauley; his mother, Minnie Cauley; and his siblings—Donald, Willard Jr., Patricia, and Cecil Cauley. Though he has departed from this world, Garry's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
