Robert "Gene" Eugene Bowman Sr., 77, of Danville, passed away at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 at his home. Gene was born on February 2nd, 1935, in Danville, the son of Claude and Ethel (Winegardner) Bowman. He married Beatrice Masulis on September 13th, 1958, in Danville. She preceded him in death on November 12th, 1995. He is survived by three sons- Robert (Romona) Bowman Jr., James (Robin) Bowman and Kenneth (Crystal) Bowman all of Danville; two twin daughters- Karen (Jay Blaker) Bowman of Westville and Sharon (Mike Twomey) Pate of Mulberry, Florida; one brother- Dennis Bowman of Horace, Illinois; two sisters- Joan Hatley of Texas and Linda (Jerry) Spears of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog- Muffin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister- Patricia Gouty. Gene graduated from Westville High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1952 to 1956. He worked at Time o Matic for several years and later worked at Bohn Aluminum, where he retired from. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, being outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family. A Celebration of the life of Robert "Gene" Eugene Bowman Sr. will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25th, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park's Chapel, 3901 North Vermilion Street, Danville, Illinois, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #210.
