Robert Earl Towner 90, of Danville passed away at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center on February 24, 2016, with his family by his side. Robert was born October 31, 1925 in Catlin, the son of Earl and Mary (Boyle) Towner and was a graduate of Georgetown High School class of 1943. He married Eleanor Joy Tarpley on August 3, 1946. He is survived by his Eleanor and his children Bob (Mary) Towner, David (Christine) Towner, Joy Lyn (Larry) Boggs and Lisa Dee Hilleary; grandchildren Alisa Thompson, Doug (Melissa) Towner, Andrea (Daniel) Spagnuolo, Daniel (Lillian) Towner and Emily (Ryan) Otto; great grandchildren Austin Thompson, Olivia, Alexandar and Aidan Spagnuolo, Violet and Ellie Towner, Noah and Lucie Otto. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Robert spent his life in agriculture until 1956 when he began working at Olin Cellophane, Covington, IN until he retired in 1987. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he had served as a lector and usher. Robert was also a one time member of the Local Musicians Union and was the drummer for the Lou George Orchestra. His other love was his archery, Robert was a member and past president of the Kickapoo Bowman Archery Club. Robert was always family first, Eleanor and the children are all musicians, enjoyed archery and are very active in the church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9am-11am at Holy Family Church with service to follow. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made in Robert's name to Schlarman Academy in Danville.
