Robert E. Schnelle

Robert (Bob) E. Schnelle of Danville passed the morning of December 12, 2017 in his home. Bob was born November 17, 1930 in Potomac, IL the son of Fred and Myrtle Schnelle. Bob was the youngest of 9 siblings and was the last known alive. He married Marcia on December 29, 1988. She survives. He is the father of Rob David (Joanne) Schnelle of Danville, the step-father of Suzette Burgner (Tracy) of Veedersburg, step-son Jack (Cecilia) Hayden of Bradley. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Brianna (Mitch) Haug, Andrew Burgner, Natalie (Kylie) Schnelleier, Montana (David) Schmidt, Arianna (Adam) LaGesse, Ashley Burgner (Kyle), Sam Schnelle, Aubree Hayden and 3 great-grandchildren: David Schmidt, Harrison Haug, and Damon Schmidt. Bob was a teacher and football coach at Oakwood High School before becoming a Distributive Education teacher at Danville High School where he helped many start their careers. He began selling life insurance full time in 1970 and was a celebrated producer for many years with Franklin Life Insurance of Springfield, IL. Bob was a provider who helped many get their start in life and he demonstrated that hard work and honesty pay off. He was known for his teasing, wit, strength, stubbornness, orneriness, and ability to fix anything. Bob affected many lives and his legacy will live on through family, friends, and students. A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will be held at 10 AM on Friday December 15, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Visitation will be held prior from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may made to the American Diabetes Association in honor of his life.
