Robert E Meidel

Robert E. Meidel, 89, of Wadsworth, IL formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 12:20 AM on May 25, 2022 at home with his family by his side.

Robert was born on March 1, 1933 the son of Carl and Doris (Reid) Meidel in Danville, IL. He married Marilyn Cooke on March 7, 1970 in Danville, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Meidel of Wadsworth, IL, four sons, John (Chellie) Duensing of Trinity, North Carolina, Eric (Anji) Meidel of Wadsworth, IL, Mike (Heather) Meidel of Danville, IL, and Greg (Nancy) Meidel of Beverly Hills, California, seven grandchildren, Danielle Duensing, Heather Duensing, Elena Meidel, Emily Meidel, Brett Meidel, Blake Meidel, and Katelyn Meidel, as well as one great grandchild, Kylie Duensing.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Meidel.

Robert graduated from Danville High School, honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, IL. He owned and operated Meidel Electric Motor Shop in Danville, IL for many years and enjoyed spending his free time hunting, being with his family, and watching sports. He was extremely fond of peanut butter and loved to attend church.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Robert will be held at 12:30 PM (CST) on June 3, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, 1211 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61832. Pastor Paul Rebert will officiate. Burial with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard will be in Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM (CST) at the church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
