obert E. Huber 81, of Danville passed away at 12: 30 AM August 21, 2004 at Waters of Covington, IN. He was born January 4, 1923 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Charles and Jennie (Miller) Huber. He is survived by three sons: Thomas Huber of Fithian, Robert (Lou Ann) Huber of Danville and John "Jack" Huber of Tampa, FL; two daughters: Margaret "Bunni" Rose and Lucia (Perry) Stegemeyer, both of Danville, one sister, Emma E. Wahlfeldt of Azusa, CA. There are sixteen grandchildren: Sean "Pete" (Michele) Rose of Cumming, GA, Daniele (Sam) Howie of Lafayette, IN, Suzzen (Kyle) Borcz of Carpentersville, IL, Meghan Rose and fianc' Tim Fisher of Des Monies, IA, Charlee (Brad) Heller of Urbana, IL, Mary, Karl, Natalie, and William Huber all of Tampa, FL, Sara M. Huber of Fithian, IL, John "Jake" Huber, Melissa Huber, Ian Rose, and Andrew "Andy" Stegemeyer all of Danville; Ben (Shawnna) Huber of Fort Gordon, GA: one step-grandson - Nathaniel Harper of Westville, IL; Great grandchildren: Dustin and Natalie Howie of Lafayette, IN. There is also one nephew Dale Michael (Josie) Wahlfeldt of Rialto, CA and two nieces Rita (Richard) Todd of California and Susan K. Wahfeldt of Dayton, NV. Cameron Thomas and Natalyn Huber both of Terre Haute, IN., Erin, Hailey and Sara Lyn Huber of Ft. Gordon, GA and Ian Henry Borcz of Carpentersville, IL and a special supportive family friend Arlene "Kitty" Stegemeyer of Danville. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy, two brothers: Charles Jr. and Carl E., two grandchildren: Noah Isaac Rose and Katie Jo Stegemyer and a brother-in-law, Ed Wahlfeldt. Bob attended Cannon School. As a member of the United States Soil Conservation Corps, Bob helped plant trees and build roads in Kickapoo State Park. Prior To entering the Navy in 1942, Bob worked for the C&EI Railroad. During World War II, he was stationed in Great Lakes, IL, New Orleans, LA and the South Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Bob returned to Danville and married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Anders August 17th, 1946. From 1948-to-1996, Bob was employed by General Motors Central Foundry, Tilton, IL. He worked in the foundry and stockroom. In 1950 Bob re-enlisted in the Navy. He served in the South Pacific throughout the Korean War. An avid sports fan, Bob spent many hours volunteering as a baseball coach at Producer's Little League from 1950's to the early 1970's. He also coached youth league at Elsworth Park in the 1950's and Pee Wee football in the early 1960's. He was a life long Cub fan. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed monthly breakfast with his fellow GM retirees. Bob loved his country home, deriving much pleasure from gardening, tinkering in his workshop and tendering his orchard, often with grandkids by his side. He received much love and support from his sister, Mrs. Emma Wahlfeldt of Azusa, CA.
