Robert M. Dossing Sr. age 81, of Danville, passed away at 2:35 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. He was born October 30, 1926 in Chicago the son of William and Eleanor (Carlson) Dossing. Robert married Catherine Davito on September 29, 1957 at St. Xavier Church in Chicago. She survives. Robert is also survived by one daughter Mary (Bill) Boswell of Danville; one son: Robert M. Dossing II of Collinsville, IL; two brothers: James (Kris) Dossing of Chicago, Richard (Grace) Dossing of Milwaukee, WI; and one granddaughter: Catherine E. Boswell of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and one brother: William Dossing. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After returning home he attended the University of Illinois and received a Bachelors Degree in Analytical Chemisty. Robert worked as the head of lab at Tee Pak when it opened and worked there for nine years until he took a job a General Electric. He retired from GE in 1989 as a materials engineer. Robert really enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, and traveling all around the world with his wife. He loved being out in his yard working or watching the deer. He was a member of the American Legion, Frontier Twirlers, Cooley Duplicate Bridge Club and St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. A mass will be held for Robert Dossing at 10 am on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center (formerly Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Home). Cremation will take place after services.
