Robert Daugherty

Robert "Bob" Clark Daugherty of Danville, Illinois passed to eternity on Good Friday, March 29, 2024 at 92 years of age. Bob was born on March 27, 1932 in Danville, Illinois to Lucille R. Daugherty and Robert C. Daugherty and was predeceased by his devoted wife, Alice L. Daugherty.

Bob was a proud University of Illinois alumni, graduating with a degree in geology, a passion which he enjoyed throughout life. It was there that he met the love of his life, Alice. They were married for 68 wonderful years, and together built a life dedicated to faith and their family. Bob instilled in his children and grandchildren a respect for hard work and dedication to the task at hand, all while keeping a smile on their face.

Bob earned a commission into the United States Army as a Combat Engineer and served overseas for six years. Upon returning to the States, Bob continued his service to this great country in the Army Reserve as an Infantryman, where he retired at the rank of Colonel after 31 years of selfless service.

During his time in the Army Reserve, Bob began his second career with Bohn Aluminum and Brass where he worked for 28 years retiring as General Manager. Not one to be idle, Bob then moved to Florida where he, as president, and his son, Bob, started Refrigeration Design, a sales and consultation company. Bob retired from this very successful venture after 18 years.

Bob is survived by his three children, Bob (Linda) Daugherty, Stephanie Daugherty, and Mark (Ann) Daugherty. He leaves five dearly loved grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am Thursday April 4, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, 3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834. A service will follow at 11:00 am on Thursday April 4, 2024. Burial will follow with full military honors in Springhill Cemetery in Danville.
