Robert Darrell Mingee

Robert Darrell Mingee, 73, of Tilton passed away at Carle Hospital in Urbana, surrounded by his family on, June 29, 2014. Darrell was born November 1, 1940 the son of Robert E. and Madeline (Acord) Mingee in Danville, IL. He married Joyce Goble from this marriage they had two daughters Tracy (Jeff) Wolfe and Rhonda Crippin both of Danville. Latter Darrell married Sara Potter from this marriage they had one son Russell (Sheila) Mingee of Georgetown. Also Surviving Darrell is one brother, Melvin (Renee) Mingee; two sisters, Sharon Thompson and Vicki (Russell) McLain; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Sydnee) Mingee, Brittni (Brandon) OHair, Tristyn and Kaden Mingee, T.J. (Courtney) George, Richard (Bonnie) Marrow; Kevin (Angie) Mahoney, Katie Jo Crippin; seventeen great-grandchildren, and special friends, Frank Hamilton, Bill Branham, Sue Stine, Peg Dempsey, John Novic, Richard and Sandy Lyons. Darrell loved to golf and play Euchre. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Darrell could often be found throughout the seasons enjoying hunting, fishing and mushrooming. He worked at General Motors as a Millwright for 32 years, but has enjoyed retirement over the past 20 years. But his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. A special thank you to Carle Foundation Hospital, especially the recovery room staff. A Celebration of Darrells Life will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 6 PM, with Pastor Keith Warner of Cayuga Christian Church officiating, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, in Danville, IL. A visitation for Robert will be held from 2-6 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Darrells name to Sons of the American Legion Catlin or Harrison Park Golf course.
