Robert Dale (Bob) Cornwell 88, of Georgetown passed away at 2:00p.m Saturday August 14, 2010 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. He was born April 23, 1922 in Georgetown the son of Ovie and Mary Wildman Cornwell. He was united in marriage to Betty Stephenson on September 5, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo. She preceded him in December of 2007. Those who will miss him include: his children, Gary Cornwell of Olivet, Penny Starwalt, Paula (Rick) Roach, both of Georgetown, Chris Kingery of Cayuga; his grandchildren, Lori (Jerry) Tuggle of Indianola, Brian (Lori) Starwalt, Chad (Melissa) Roach, John (Carie) Roach, Neil (Tiffany) Roach, all of Georgetown, Seth Cornwell of Olivet, Corey (Marcie) Bowers of Danville, Reece Cornwell of Georgetown, Samantha and Mathew Kingery both of Cayuga; his thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son-in-law, Rich Starwalt; a granddaughter, Lisa; and his sister, Rosemary Jackson. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII; He retired from the C&E.I Railroad as an Engineer. He was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church, Georgetown American Legion Post 203 and was a 32 Degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching sports on TV and the Cubs. A celebration of life funeral service for Robert Cornwell will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 17, 2010 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, A life Celebration Home. Officiating will be Pastor James Blue. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery with Military Rites by the Dornblaser American Legion Post #203. Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the Funeral service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.
