Robert D. Neal

Danville - Robert D. Neal, 82, of Danville passed away at 2:28 pm on Friday February 24, 2017 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living Center in Chrisman, IL. Robert was born on July 16, 1934 the son of Claude W. and Ruth L. (Cripe) Neal in Danville, IL. He was married to Carolyn McFadden in 1955 in Danville, IL. Survivors include, two daughters, Pamela Webber of Danville, IL and Holly New of Highland, IN, one brother, Claude "Gene" (Akimmie) of Chula Vista, CA, three grandchildren, Raquel Webber of Danville, IL Natalie (Jason) Rodriguez of Dyer, IN and Victoria New of Chicago, IL, four great grandchildren, Ragina Hinkle and Alexander Mitchell of Danville and Zane and Kai Rodriguez of Dyer, IN, as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Michael Neal. Robert served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1949 - 1963. He retired from General Motors with over 35 years of service. Most of his time was spent in the Core Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis. Later in life he was an avid Bass Fisherman competing in area tournaments. After retirement, he took photography classes at DACC. He became an accomplished photographer and won many awards for his photographs. He loved to garden and work in his yard. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren as they were the light of his life. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM and Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Doug Knapp will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the National Parkinson Disease Foundation.
