Robert D. Boswell, 80, of Danville passed away at 9:45 P.M., on Sunday, December 16, 2007, at his home in Danville, Illinois, after being ill for several years. He was born May 8, 1927, in Danville, son of Fred and Beulah Hall Boswell. He married Sarah Smith on July 11, 1947 in Danville. She survives. Robert is also survived by his six children; Susan (David) Tabels, Connie (Don) Casey, Robert (Barb) Boswell, Mark Boswell, and Charles Boswell all of Danville and Julie (Ed) York of Williamsport, IN, and a sister, Ellen Pilkington. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Fred and Don, and a sister, Mary. Robert attended Danville schools and then served 2 years in the Navy during WWII. He worked for 40 years for Prairie Farms Dairy (Producers Dairy), and Danville Big R for 16 years. He volunteered as a Red Vest at Provena USMC for 14 years. Robert also served as a Scout Master for Troop 25, achieving the Order of the Arrow. He coached Little League for many years and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Robert was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, and working crossword puzzles and he was a die- hard Cardinal fan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30P.M. Thursday, December 20, 2007, at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, IL with Father Gregory Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville. An evening prayer service will be at 5:30. Place of rest will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Roberts name to St. Pauls Endowment Fund.
