Robert 'Bobby' Wayne Elliott

Robert "Bobby" Elliott, 84, of Danville passed away on January 29, 2023 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. He was born in Danville on February 6, 1938 to parents Norman and Frances Elliott. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him was his sister Norma Bogart and grandson Jeremy Elliott. Bobby, known as "Ace" to some, graduated from Bismarck High School in 1957 and joined the United States Army where he was based out of Texas for some time. Upon returning to Danville, Bobby took a job at Hyster (NAACO) where he worked for 30 years before his retirement in 1994. In his younger years, he played baseball as the teams shortstop and was well-known for his roller skating. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, racing, and he especially enjoyed golfing. He held a membership at the Harrison Park Golf Course for many years. He was an avid Cardinals fan and had a very big circle of friends. He always looked forward to drinking coffee with his buddies or spending time with his family. Bobby is survived by his children Douglas M. (Julie) Elliott of Oakwood, Bradford W. (Sylvia) Elliott of Hoopeston, and Michelle Billingsley of Hoopeston; his companion of 14 years, Martha Banks; and his sister Barbara Kleiner. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will miss him greatly. A visitation will be held for Bobby on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St., in Danville. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 3:00 pm, also at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
