Robert "Bobby" Key

Robert C. Key, 74, was born on August 21st, 1950, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Malcom and Lela Key. He married Julia Meeks on May 1st, 2010.

He passed at his home just like he wanted on April 6th, 2025, after a long, hard battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife Julie of Sidell, his children Roxie Coble of Avon, In., Brett (Teresa) Key Georgetown, and Amy (Sam) Fourez of Georgetown, Two Step-Sons Isaac (Emily) Lawless of Georgetown, Jess (Carly) Lawless of Ruth, NV. His sisters Ruthann Voight, Ruby (Chuck) Kindred, Connie (Port) Porter, Chig (Dave) Robison, Penny (Kevin) Ring, and his brother Sonny (Pat) Key. He had five grandkids Tyler (Isabella) Key, Jordyn and Ledger Fourez, Violet, and Nation Lawless. One great-grandchild, Wrenley Key.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Stacey Key, Uncle Arnold, Nephew and Niece Wade and Mishelle Key, Brother-in-Law Bob Voight, Nephews Brent Schmalshof and Tony Kindred, Sister in Law Susan Liffick, Brother-in-Law Larry (Rhea) Meeks.

Bobby graduated from Chrisman High School in 1969. He was a Jack of all trades, a wheeler and dealer. He worked for Smith and Jones, and farmed at Robertsons, drove a semi for Rogers Carnage for years, then went on to driving his own semi for more years after retiring from that, he went to work for Wayne Transport, then to Nutrient Ag. He fully retired in 2023, even after retirement, he was still busy in the garage or the yard/garden, along with being an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to use his smoker and tell stories.

Bobby is leaving behind his three amigos: Bill, WhiteOwl, and Michael, who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date per Bobby’s request. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Houghton-Leasure Chapel 200 East West Street Georgetown, Illinois, is who the family arranged Cremation with.
