Robert 'Bob' Wayne Swisher

Robert "Bob" Wayne Swisher, 79, of Danville, passed away March 1, 2016. He was in the loving care of the Danville VA Palliative Care team and his son at the time of his passing. Bob was born on January 17, 1937 in Danville, the son of Fern (Edwards) and Henry Swisher. After honorably serving in the US Army, Bob married Sherry Mann (Krugh) in 1960 and together they had three children which they raised on a farm in Allerton, Illinois. Later, Bob relocated to Texas where he worked as an engineer for Holiday Inn and met Molly Galey. Bob and Molly moved back to Danville and remained there until Bob's passing. Bob will be deeply missed by: his children, Marcia (Rick) Fink of Port St John, FL, Karen (Mark) Pappas of Port St John, FL and Douglas Swisher of Danville, IL; his sister, Mary Hansbrough of Danville, IL; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Leslie, Kyle, Ryan, & Monica; two great grandchildren, Madison & Kendal; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was proceeded in death by: his parents; his sister, Helen Barker; brothers, Harlan Swisher and Melvin Swisher. Bob was loved by all that knew him. He was kind, generous and had a heart of gold. He was known by all for his playful sense of humor. Bob loved his friends and family, fishing, gardening, and riding his scooter. A memorial and graveside service will be held at National Cemetery in Danville at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Danville VA Palliative Care Program in recognition of the wonderful and loving services they provide to our veterans.
