DANVILLE - Robert E. "Bob" Quartier, 84, of Danville passed away Saturday evening, July 25, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born November 22, 1930 in Danville, he was the son of Eugene Brian "Speed" and Atha Opal (Mobaker) Quartier. He was a 1948 graduate of Bismarck High School. On April 5, 1953, he married the love of his life, Rosalind Peelman at First Church of Christ in Danville. Bob served his country with honor in the United States Army, and later in the Army Reserves. Bob started what was to be a long and successful career in farming, with Tall Timber Farms. They were world renowned for their pure bred cattle. After his time at Tall Timber, he owned and operated IDOL-AYR Dairy Farm. There he bred All-American Ayrshire dairy cows. He also sold registered Ayrshire sires worldwide. Bob had a love for all animals and dedicated his life to his work. He treated all animals with kindness and respect. In addition to his farming, Jesus Christ and his church were the center of his life. He was a member of Bismarck First Church of Christ, where he served as deacon, and an Elder on the church board. Bob was a key member on the building committee for the new church. Bob didn't know a stranger. He was a very friendly person, and loved talking to everyone. Any time he was able to spend with his family was precious to him. His grandkids were his life. He found joy in ordinary life, every day was special to him.
