Robert Bob Norman Collins, 82, of Danville, died at 2:45pm, Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born the son of Robert Nathen and Mary (Gaie) Collins on May 17, 1928, in Danville, IL. He was united in marriage to Mertis Grace Benton on June 22, 1950, in Horry County, SC, until her passing on November 13, 2004. Those who will miss him include: his daughters, Mary (Douglas) Newman of Danville, Bobbi (Lytle) Murray of Danville, Laurie (Steven) Oreskovich of Westville, & Leslie (Timothy) Holycross of Danville; his thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his brother, Gordon (Diane) Collins of Olney, IL; and his sisters, Beverly (Donald) Claywell of Danville & Norma Koss of Danville. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corp and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked then retired from Fairbanks-Morse Scale Co. in 1990. He was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville as well as a member of the Westville American Legion Post #51. Bob enjoyed working in his shop where he worked with metals & motors. He appreciated a challenge and could build anything and was known as a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed going fishing & playing Euchre with his family. He also enjoyed going to have coffee with his friends. Bob loved & enjoyed spending time with his family & friends and was known to be willing & able to help anybody. A Celebration of Bobs life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration Home, 414 S State St, Westville. Pastor Drew Mentzer will officiate. Visitation will be held 4pm to 8pm, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials donations may be given in Bobs name to the Second Cup Coffee Room at Second Church of Christ in Danville or the Judith Giacoma Library.
