Robert "Bob" Martin, 88, of Westville passed away at 10:28 am on Monday, July 8, 2013 at his home. He was born October 5, 1924, at Central Park Danville, to Owen and Sarah "Sadie" (Hall) Martin. He married Constance A. Ambrose on April 19, 1947, in Westville. She survives. Bob is also survived by three daughters, Linda Kruger of Danville, Margie (Mark) Potter of Neenah, WI and Lori (Kenny) Moreman of Tilton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, John Ambrose; two sisters, Betty Hinton and Barbara Gulley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert "Sloan" Martin; one son-in-law, Richard "Jody" Kruger; his parents; one brother, James Martin; three sisters, Vivian Hinkle, Bernice Murphy, Dora Lewis and one sister-in-law, Julia Bednar. Robert was proud to have served in Belgium and France during WWII with the 791st AAA unit. He was a member of American Legion Post #51. Over the years Bob was employed at Musebeck Shoe Company, Jacobs, Coffing Hoist, Duff Norton and was an assembler for Bohn Aluminum, retiring in 1987 after 27 years of service. Robert loved his cars and could tell you the make, model and year of almost every car on the road. He enjoyed listening to country music. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville with Father Sauppe officiating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
