Robert 'Bob' Macfarlane

Robert Francis MacFarlane Jr., 63, passed away on September 18th, 2023, peacefully in his home in Mansfield, surrounded by his wife and children. Robert, known by many as Bob, was born on July 23rd, 1960, in Urbana, IL to Robert Francis MacFarlane Sr. and Joyce MacFarlane, who he was preceded in death. Bob married Joleen Stoklosa on May 28th, 1988. They would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary next year. Bob fought tremendously until the very end, which speaks to his strong-willed character.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joleen MacFarlane; his children, Lindsay (Jeremy) Starwalt, Morgan (Jordan) Downs, and Robert (Victoria) MacFarlane III; his six siblings, Kelli Durdle, Cheri (Mark) Duncan, Terri Hovde, Lynn (Mike) Bushman, Donald (Holly) MacFarlane, and Vonda MacFarlane; and his five grandchildren, Izabel Starwalt, Cereese Starwalt, Easton Starwalt, Everly Downs, and Berkleigh Downs; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob grew up in Champaign, IL with his parents and siblings. He graduated from Champaign Central High School and moved on to attend Parkland College. Bob was employed at Amdocs for 35+ years, where he wore many hats. After being married, Bob and Joleen made Mahomet, IL their home to raise their children, Lindsay, Morgan, and Rob. Bob was very family-oriented, a diligent worker, and a talented craftsman, and used these skills to eventually build a family home of his own in Mahomet. Bob enjoyed being outdoors with his family. Some of his happiest memories included going on camping and boating trips, having family and friends over for backyard gatherings, and spending weekends at his parents lakeside cabin along with his siblings, kids, and nieces and nephews.

Bob loved his family most of all, and always put them first (although, his boat was a close second). He was his kids greatest fan, from coaching little league, never missing a sporting event, dressing up for Halloween, and occasionally sending them flying off a boating tube on Clinton Lake or Lake Shelbyville. He never missed a chance to say how proud he was of his children, and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Bob was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, a caring brother and friend, and a loving grandpa. He is so loved and will be so dearly missed by many.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Bob's name to CurePSP at 325 Hudson St., 4th Floor, New York, NY 10013 or online at psp.org/iwanttohelp/ways-to-give/ (http://psp.org/iwanttohelp/ways-to-give/)
