Robert 'Bob' Leroy Sprouls

Robert Leroy Bob Sprouls, Sr., 83, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:49am, Sunday, January 25, 2015, at VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville. He was born on April 30, 1931 in Danville, the son of Robert and Carrie {Barr} Sprouls, both deceased. On July 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Morrow in Westville, IL. They were blessed with 62 years together. He is also survived by: his children, Bob Sprouls of Georgetown, Cathy (Joel) Ribar of Wauwatosa, WI, & Scott (Jody) Sprouls of Bloomington, IL; his sisters, Jacky (Wayne) Gallagher of Tucson, AZ, Myrna (Norman) Cade of Herculaneum, MO, & Connie Acton of Apache Junction, AZ; his grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica) Sprouls, Casey Sprouls, Katy (Brian) Watson, Chad (Sheena) Collom, Ian Ribar, Dylan Ribar, Andy Sprouls, Logan Sprouls, & Nick McCombs; his great grandchildren, Andrew Sprouls, Callie Sprouls, Hayden Sprouls, & Khloe Sprouls; many cousins; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Peel & Marjorie Sandusky. Bob was a proud Veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter and also worked for the Recreation Department at the Danville VA and retired after 35 years of service. He also built multiple homes in the Vermilion County area. Bob enjoyed building, as well as, fishing and playing Euchre. He also loved to travel and had traveled all over. In his later years after retiring, Bob enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin and Florida to go fishing. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Bobs life will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor Dennis Floyd officiating. Visitation will be 11am-1pm, Thursday prior to service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown, with Military honors conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be given in Bobs name to the Recreation Voluntary Services Department at the VA in Danville.
