Mr. Keith, age 89, of Catlin, formerly of Danville, went to his Heavenly home on April 8, 2011. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 68 years, and family as he passed away at the Danville VA Illiana Health Care System. Bob Keith was born on February 27, 1922, in Danville, to Ralph Emile Keith and Beulah Pearl (Hunsaker) Keith. He is preceded in death by his parents,and his precious daughter, Mary Kay Schoenherr. On July 8, 1942, Bob married the love of his life, Irma Slick L. Silkey of Ogden, IL. After graduating from Danville High School in 1940, He valiantly served in the U.S. Army, European Theater, during World War II. Bob served from September, 1942-October 1945; his service included landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day, the 6th of June, 1944, and fighting in the Battle of the Bugle. After the war, he attended Utterbach College and then was employed as Executive Vice-President with E.S. Moore, and Son, Inc, for over 32 years. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was an accomplished (and daring!) swimmer; he loved to dance, listen to Big Band Music, watch old war movies and polish and wax his special cars every Sunday afternoon. Mr. Keith was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He has been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Danville for 60 years. Survivors include his beloved wife, Irma Slick Silkey Keith; daughters; Pamela (John) Dabels of Charlotte, NC; Cynthia Crucitti of Danville, and Susan Keith of Fairmount, IL. His grandchildren; William Robert (Shelly) Schoenherr of Angola, IN; Eric Thomas (Alishia) Schoenherr, Maxwell Thomas Silkey (Miranda) Crucitti, and Samuel Heminway Keith, all of Danville. His great-grandchildren; Noah, Emma, and Brandon Schoenherr; Alexis and Ethan Schoenherr; Vincent and Chase Crucitti; Aeris E. Jett, Dalylah Jane Keith and Phoenix Eve Keith and his brother; Ralph E.Keith Jr. A service to Celebrate the Life of Robert T. Keith will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St in Danville, with Reverend Drs. Jimmy and Katie Hopper to officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Military burial will be honored by the Danville American Legion Post #210 at Sunset Memorial Park following the service. Mr. Keiths wife, Slick, and the family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Veterans Illiana Health Care System in Danville, and to his caretakers from Alpha Care for their kindness, love and gentle care during Bobs last few months.
