Robert 'Bob' Kaiser

MAHOMET - Robert G. "Bob" Kaiser, 87, of Mahomet, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Helia Healthcare in Champaign. Born December 21, 1927 in Champaign, he was the son of Emil Carl and Bertha (Liestman) Kaiser. Bob was a 1946 graduate of Fisher High School. He married Thela Elizabel Bennett on September 29, 1956 in Champaign. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2000. Bob served his country with honor in the United States Navy, serving as an electrician's mate post World War II. He worked as a custodian for the University of Illinois, Mahomet Seymour School District, and the Cornbelt Fire Protection District. Bob was a member of the Lutheran Church of Mahomet, Champaign VFW Post 5520 and AmVets Post 52 in Fisher. He was an avid gardener, loved reading and enjoyed volunteering at the V.A. in Danville. Bob will be dearly missed by his family. Bob is survived by two sons, Mark (LaDonna) Kaiser of Mahomet, and Stephen (Sherry) Kaiser of St. Joseph; two sisters, Betty Clapper of Mahomet, and Ann Dippel of Dublin, OH; one grandson, Daniel Kaiser of Mahomet; six granddaughters, Michelle (Jason) Morgan of Mahomet, Lindsay (Jeremy) Brotherton of Mahomet, Melena Roy of Urbana, Lauren (Luke) Holub of Whitestown, IN, Kelli (Tony) Snyder of Hindsboro, and Sarah Rose of Champaign; six great grandchildren, Kameryn, Lucas, Kole, Izaiah and Madisyn, all of Mahomet, and Elowen of Whitestown, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thela; a daughter, Jayne Rose; and two brothers, William Kaiser and Fred Kaiser. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Lutheran Church of Mahomet, 410 E. Andover Dr. in Mahomet. Burial with military honors provided by Champaign VFW Post 5520 will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:30 pm Tuesday evening at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil Street in Champaign.
