Robert 'Bob' Gordon Plater Ii

Danville - Robert "Bob" Gordon Plater II, 69, of Danville passed away at 2:55 pm on Monday April 25, 2016 at his residence. Bob was born on August 21, 1946 in Danville, IL the son of Robert Gordon and Frieda Ann (Wildung) Plater. He married Cathy Lynne Wilson in 1968 and later married "Sue" Margaret J. Brickey in 1994. Survivors include his wife; "Sue" Plater of Danville, one son; R. Mathew (Michele) Plater of Rushville, IL, one daughter; Jody Lynne Plater Hall of Edwardsville, IL, one sister; Deborah A. Plater Baum of Danville, IL, 4 grandchildren; Mason Plater and Manning Plater both of Rushville, IL, Michael Hall and Jada Hall both of Edwardsville, IL as well as one nephew; Andrew Baum of Washington. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Bob worked for Aqua Illinois Water Company for over 29 years as an Engineering Aide. Over the years Bob was very active in a variety of organizations. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT with the Bismarck Fire Department and Rescue Squad, a current member of the Bismarck Lions Club, coached Little League and assisted with the youth football programs in Bismarck, was active with the Boy Scouts of America as well as a current member of the Northfork Lodge. Bob loved being outdoors and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, arrowhead hunting and taking his fishing trips to Canada. Bob was very instrumental in the land acquisition by the Vermilion County Conservation District for what would become the Heron County Park Wetlands Area. Most of all, Bob loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events. Per Bob's wishes, a public informal reflective gathering will take place at Heron County Park Boardwalk on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
