Robert "Bob" L. Bennett, 74, of Danville passed away unexpectedly at home on May 2, 2022. He was born in Danville on September 25, 1947 to parents Rose and Floyd Bennett. They preceded him in death. Bob was also preceded by his 3 siblings Sharon Hooks, Fred Bennett, and Tammy Lowe. Bob married Glenda Hays in November of 1986 in Danville. She survives. Also, surviving are his daughters Linda (Timothy) Pearson, Laura Bennett, Vickie (Ray) Parrish, and Jennifer (Steve) Bainbridge. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Kayla, Leanna, Timothy Jr., Jonica, Bodhi, Luke, Desiree (Jonathon), Erika (Cesar), and Cody; and great-grandchildren Leila, Myla, and Bryer. He was also looking forward to his newest great-grandchild Henry, who is still on the way. Bob enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country overseas during the Vietnam War. He held many jobs over the years at Quaker in Danville before his eventual retirement. Bob loved his family, the Lord, and people. He was a devoted member of the Grape Creek Baptist Church. He had a great sense of humor. He was always laughing and ensured those around him were laughing as well. Bob is remembered dearly as always giving to others, even if it meant the shirt off his own back. He was affectionately referred to as the "candy man" because he always had a mint or chocolate to share. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being a part of a motorcycle club. Bob loved life and will be missed very much by all those who knew him. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St., in Danville. A celebration of his life will take place following the visitation at 3:00 pm at the funeral home on Friday. Pastor Dave Leary will be officiating. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at Stearns Cemetery following the services.
