Robert 'Bob' Anderson

Robert A. “Bob” Anderson, 89, of Danville IL. passed away at 5:25 pm on Friday August 16, 2013 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. The son of John LeRoy and Nellie Lucy (Cambridge) Anderson, Bob was born May 27, 1924 in Danville IL. He married Mary Joan Rothgeb on March 2, 1946 and they celebrated their 67 anniversary this year. She was by his side as he passed. Other survivors include his two sons - John A. Anderson of Carmel IN. and E. Wesley Anderson of Springfield; two granddaughters - Kelli Jo Anderson of Champaign and Alison (Jake) Kreider of Gurnee; and a great-grandson Gavin Robert Kreider. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Larry Scott Anderson and his brother Samuel Wesley Anderson. Bob graduated from Danville High School in 1943 and later attended the Chicago Technical College. He was a member of the IBEW Local 538 and retired from Anderson Electric after 43 years. Bob enjoyed growing flowers in the basement during the winter, attending bonsai flower shows, traveling, visiting State Fairs, and listening to music. He and his wife Joan were also active volunteers with the local Faith and Action. The “high-light” of his day was visiting with neighbors while sitting on his porch. A celebration of Bobs life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville IL. with Rev. Randall Robinson officiating and burial at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday August 19, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville.
