Robert Bob A. Swisher, 76, of Danville, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his home. Bob was born on September 1, 1931 in Danville, the son of Herbert and Mary (Shelato) Swisher. He married Marilyn Cooper on June 23, 1956 in Westville. She survives. He is also survived by two sons- Robert (Rhonda) Swisher of Robinson, Illinois and Darren (Angela) Swisher of Lumberton, Texas; one daughter- Kathy (Tim) Robinson of Danville; eight grandchildren- Cody Swisher of Robinson, Illinois, Lauren Swisher, Bailee Swisher, Alexa Swisher, and Chloe Swisher all of Lumberton, Texas, Aubrey (Brian) Carpenter, Taylor Robinson and Chelsea Robinson all of Danville; three great-grandchildren- Cooper Carpenter of Danville and twin great-granddaughters expected in October; two sisters- June (Todge) Kopacz and Bernice Wimsett both of Danville; one brother-in-law- Richard (Jen) Cooper of Sebring, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Rosalie Welsch and her husband John Welsch. Bob graduated from Danville High School in 1950. After high school he joined the United States Army and served from 1951 to 1952 in Korea. Bob worked as an industrial engineer at Hysters in Danville for 26 years, until he retired. He was a member of Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church. Bob loved anything that had to do with children or his family. He enjoyed coaching baseball and football over the years as well as being active in the Junior Achievers. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Cubs and Illini. He also enjoyed golfing and playing softball. Bob loved being a family man and also enjoyed helping his friends anytime they needed anything. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Beverly and Anthony Burr Brazas for all of their help and prayers over the last few months. A Celebration of the Life of Robert Bob A. Swisher will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Glen Huffman officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the Korean War Veterans.
